Why God, why?

It is/has snowed. Yet again. As we were out at Home Depot when it started, I was very happy to be driving the 4 wheel drive vehicle. I know we didn't need the Exploder as Forlori would've handled it just fine, but it was an extra level of comfort knowing we had the better snow car.

Yesterday we had comic movie day/night over and [info]noss and [info]manicgiraffe's house. As Jamers and I don't go to the movies, all three, Dark Knight, Ironman, and Incredible Hulk were new to us. I enjoyed Dark Knight although I found Ironman to be more like a real long trailer for the next movie to come. It wasn't bad per se, but I didn't feel that there was enough character/dialog development to really get me into it. As soon as I was starting to get interested in the characters the movie was over. Incredible Hulk, well, I've always been a fan of the Hulk, I watched the TV show quite a bit as a child. This movie was definitely better the The Hulk, and not just because I don't really like Eric Bana, or the fact that the plot in The Hulk was absolutely ridiculous. I am quite fond of Edward Norton, though I can't stand Liv Tyler so that sorta balances out the actors as far as my favoring the movie or not. However, the plot was better and as was pointed out the physics were a little bit more realistic. I know, I know. The whole movie is not exactly realistic, but I never really picked up on the fact that in the first one, Hulk bounced around like a rubber ball - never really interacting much with his surroundings until he needed to do collateral damage. In the new version, he actually interacts in a more realistic way with the scenery, for example actually doing damage if he "jumps" from point A to point B. All in all the afternoon was well spent with friends and yummy dinner was provided.

As Noe has recently repainted several walls in her house, I was inspired to finally get around to changing the hideous downstairs colors myself. We went out to HD this afternoon, taking one of the shams from the downstairs bedroom with us. We scanned in the color we wanted to work with and let the computer help us pick a secondary color. We're going to primer one of the smaller walls and try it out to see how it looks. If we likes, we will paint all the downstairs (bedroom & Entertainment room) the same to create a better flow of energy. Right now the three colors are so different (plus I seriously can't stand the yellow) that it feels very choppy and doesn't flow right.

That will be a project for us to work on (like everything else) before Xander gets here. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Anyways I must toodle off for dinner and another round of Babylon 5. I think we are about halfway through season 2 at this point.

tiddie bits

Turkey weekend was great. I thoroughly enjoy sleeping in until the sun is up. Having Ryan and Alisha stay with us was so fricken wonderful. Besides the fact that they are awesome peeps to begin with, Jamers and I both agree that having other people in the house makes it nicer. The house is too big for just us two people and it feels empty and hallow most of the time. But having additional people here, even for a couple of days, really makes this house feel like a home. Sadly though as with most good things, their visit came to an end Sunday morning and they headed back to Aptos.

We went to "Black Friday" at the WA Sq mall. We didn't get there until 1ish (prego lady didn't want to risk getting trampled by crazy 5am traffic people) We spent at least three hours walking around window shopping - Jamers and I just don't have money for Xmas this year and Lish and Ryan were just checking out the deals. By the time we got home I was dizzy to an extreme I have never been before. I don't know if it was just from the claustrophobia kicking in, the heat of all the people at the mall, or sheer exhaustion on my pregnant part but it was a little scary for me.

We watched three new to us movies this weekend:
Kamikaze Girls Which was the movie that loverly Erin had sent me for my birthday. Okay, so it took a couple of months to find the time to watch, but so worth it. Honestly, I've only ever seen Japanese Horror movies, never a Japanese comedy. From the dialog, to the costumes, to the plot the whole movie was silly and fun. I think we all enjoyed it equally, Alisha, Ryan, Jamers and myself. I heartily recommend this movie.

Saturday Ryan and Lish, picked up Tropic Thunder for themselves and Wall-E for us. We watched TT with them Saturday night. I enjoyed it mostly. I think it is like any Ben Stiller movie, either you find it funny or you don't. Much like Zoolander, the first watching of this movie I had moments of total laughter and moments of groaning. Like Zoolander, I think if I watch it more, each time I will find new things hilarious and eventually come to love the movie. As we never saw Ironman, I don't have a ton of Robert Downey Jr, watching experience. I have to say though, he is awesome. Playing a Aussie playing a black man, he is outstanding. I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys Ben Stiller movies otherwise you may end up turning it off after the first 10 minutes.

Finally Jamers and I watched Wall-E last night. Now, as far as movies go, it was sweet and the animation was terrific, much as you would expect from Pixar. However, I as a person have issues with dystopian futuristic movies. I just feel there is enough pain and hurt and struggle in my everyday life that when I watch a movie I don't need to see the future all messed up because humanity has f$#@d ourselves over. If I spoil this for anyone, sorry, but seriously a movie about earth being so overrun by our own excesses that we are forced to leave the toxic environment and live in space for 700 years on a ship where humans have devolved over the years to nothing more than overweight useless human beings is just not my cup of tea. So you can imagine that after the first 5 minutes of this movie I told Jamers that this movie was utterly depressing. I'm sure it doesn't help that my hormones are all rollercoastery right now. Half way through the film, I repeated the "this movie is depressing" statement. He asked if I wanted to turn it off. I said nope. Knowing how Disney/Pixar work, I was sure in the end everything would work out and leave us with a hope for the future's future feeling. I was right to a degree and about 3/4 of the way through I did forget the bleakness of it all and lost myself in the robotiness of it all. All in all a cute movie, but I'm not sure how many times I'll be able to watch it again.

Other tiddie bitties - I took my glucose test on Wednesday. I was told they would call me today only if I failed and I would have to come in for the four hour fasting blood test. I was so not looking forward to that. Luckily though, I received no call today so yeah for me! No worries about gestational diabetes.

Work continues to suck in new and interesting ways. I'm hoping they get a competent person in for my temp job, but I don't know if they'll even be able to find someone that knows everything they want. Seriously it's a temp gig for 3 months. The right person can learn the stinkin software and/or pick up on the industry stuff. I'm just being a crabby face don't mind me. Hmmmm . . . . . .crab.

That being said dinner is ready so I toodle off. I don't think crab is on the menu, I think French Fries, green beans and chicken is planned.

not related to assholes, good news on the house hunt. Tweed told [info]angille yesterday to go ahead and send up the application fee. Apparently, he liked what he saw on the app, and is moving forward with doing credit and rental checks. I went ahead and fedEx the payment, along with a rental reference from our current landlords to him. He should get it tomorrow. Hopefully, we'll know within the next week or so if we get the awesomeness that is our potential new rental.

Assuming we do get it, we've now got a weekend to spend when we go visit that won't be for house hunting. I would say, "let's fit in more interviews." but somehow I don't see most job interviews happening on a weekend.

My sister is going to be going up with us to pop's house on Saturday. I've invited her to dinner with us, but I don't yet know if we'll be able to get a reservation or not. I've got to call after 3 to see.

Oh, last night in our "shopping" our way to see Ryan and [info]intrepid_glory we stopped at the mall to see if Bablyon 5, Season 2 was in yet, it wasn't. However, Sam Goody across the way was having a going out of business sale. A sale to the tune of all DVDs $5.99 or less. Whoopee! So there wasn't a great selection left, but who could resist such classics as Julius Ceasar starring Charlton Heston? Or White Zombie with Bela Legosi? Anyhow, we ended up with 9 DVDs for $35. Not that big a deal you say? Howsa bout the fact that one of those nine boxes has like 12 cheesey horror movies, another four, etc. I figure we got close to 25 or so movies last night! [info]noss, we're going to have quite the cheese fest once we get up there chicky!

Anyhow, now that I'm back to calm and not hating, I hope all you great peeps have a loverly day.

Did I mention that we have a beautiful, glorious, warm sunny day today? I could get used to this, just in time to move up to the rain.

As quickly as it came

the sun was gone again, pooplins. Tonight we shall finish what we didn't get done last night, mainly the house cleaning and stuff to storage. I will feel infinitely happier when the house doesn't look like a junk yard.

Forlori is in at the shop today getting regular maintenance work. The shop I took her to by recommendation seems real honest and nice. They called to tell me that she needs a tune up in addition to the extended servicing, the total estimated price is like $340, which compared to the last place I took it, is infinitely cheaper. Plus they got 'er done today, well, we'll see, but she should be done today for afternoon pick up. Which is good, I don't like not having her around.

Tomorrow we takes Pretty Lady, aka: Velvet to the vets to get her caught up on her shots. Next Saturday Bazzy goes in for his catch up. We got taxes, Jamer's resume blast, and the pics/statements to the AAA lawyer mailed off today.

When the house gets clean today, and with the above all done, we are in pretty good shape for the move I think. We'll look into getting a PO Box later tonight/tomorrow, so that we can give a forwarding address to the bill peeps in the coming month or so. It is all beginning to come together!

Ohhhhhh! Matt let me borrow the Star Trek movies DVD box set for the weekend in exchange for me letting him borrow Firefly. Last night we special ordered Babylon 5 Season 2, it should arrive in a month or so. It costs just as much as Season 1, which made me almost choke. However I have $70 in replay certificates, which will cover most of it thankfully. We were debating whether or not to start collecting Red Dwarf with the certificates, but I think poor Jamers is now addicted to Babylon 5, so we really should get it now.

Anyhoo, hopes everyones' weekend.

Serenity

Otay so does everyone know the song "Serenity" by Godsmack? I love the song. Anyhoo the other day, Jamers had made a post about how he heard the song and couldn't get Firefly out of his head. When I got home, he had downloaded a bunch of homemade videos of Firefly to various songs. Of the half dozen or so that I watched, I think maybe 1 or 2 were good. Since I'm such a movie/video snob, I think that I could do a much better version. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how to do it. I just know that I could put a much more coheasive and worthy video together if I had the ability to do so. Does any one have any idea how I could go about that? I would love to do it in my "spare" time, as small as it is now.

On a completely different note, Mr. Groundhog, another 6 weeks of winter? I need to start walking my butt to work again. Can we compromise and say, 6 weeks of winter, but much, much warmer?

Oh, and we start the Star Wars D20 tonight. I haven't even made my character yet, although I've settled on Jedi Guardian. I figure it is probably the easiest to play. Plus I get to use a light saber (eventually).

Toodles all!
